Medium and Landscape Architect Jamie Csizmadia will present Ayahuasca: My Initiation into the Tradition of Plant Spirit Healing from 10 to 11:30 a.m., May 20, at the Oklahoma City Downtown Library.
Offered up with compassion and humor, Csizmadia’s personal story is full of transformational awakenings, other-worldly synchronicities, dark nights of the soul, and tests of personal will and spirit. Following her deepest instincts, Csizmadia left the prairies of Oklahoma in late 2016 and traveled to the Amazonian rainforest of Peru, where she immersed herself in a six-week intensive Ayahuasca Curandero training course. Under the tutelage of Shipibo Maestro don Enrique, she dove headfirst into the ancient healing traditions of plant medicine, including participating in and leading an Ayahuasca ceremony, partaking in personal dietas with master plants, like Noya Rao, singing the time-honored icaros, and administering plant baths for healing purposes.
“The absolute truth is that I went to Peru to strengthen my personal connection and communication with the plants,” Csizmadia says. “And per usual, I got more than I could’ve ever bargained for. Within a short six-week period, I experienced heart-opening epiphanies that would normally take several lifetimes to accumulate. I have Ayahuasca to thank for that.”
