Cannabidiol Offers an Effective Treatment for Neurological Disorders

Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological diseases in the world today. Epileptic seizures are caused by misfiring among brain cells or electrical dischargers that are irregular, resulting in a loss of consciousness, altered senses and convulsions. Caused by viruses, head injuries, hormonal imbalances and other more mysterious triggers, epilepsy is typically treated with anticonvulsant drugs, such as phenobarbital, clonazepam and other pharmaceuticals, that come with many unpleasant side effects.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is contained in cannabis and possesses anticonvulsant properties. With growing support from medical practitioners, including the Epilepsy Foundation of the United States, CBD provides an effective treatment of epilepsy without the side effects. In 2003, a little girl named Charlotte Figi, who suffered 300 grand mal seizures a week, tried CBD and it subdued almost all her seizures, bringing national attention to the treatment.

Today, CBD is legal across the United States and numerous studies are revealing the vast uses for this plant and its molecular content. CBD has also been found effective for many autoimmune diseases and neurological issues.
