Carolyn Pruett, owner of Crafty Canvas OK, in Del City, is offering Oklahomans the opportunity to practice creativity in a safe space. The studio seats 10 painters comfortably, and all canvases are pre-sketched so participants can focus on the painting portion of their project.
“Painting parties fill the same social need as the quilting bees of bygone generations,” explains Pruett. “There are no expectations except to relax and enjoy the process. Painting is leisurely, and the parameters of success are solely defined by the expectations of each participant.”
With more than 20 years of experience in public education, Pruett is an award-winning fiber artist. She began painting as a form of therapy in 2009 after a life-shattering tragedy. Her mission is to help people express themselves when words are not sufficient.
