Essential Oils for Women’s Health

Women’s hormones can cause a variety of health issues that are unique to them. There are many essential oils that can help balance these hormones, providing relief for common problems. Clary sage, for example, can help relieve menstrual cramps and post-menopausal issues. Inhaling this oil can reduce levels of cortisol and improve thyroid hormone levels, which helps combat weight gain and fight fatigue. Clary sage also helps balance estrogen in the body and can be used to relieve menstrual cramps when rubbed directly on the lower belly.

Oregano, grapefruit and thyme help promote healthy progesterone levels. These oils can be used in cooking. In addition, the delicious-smelling sandalwood and ylang ylang oils help keep the libido healthy, allowing the body to maintain healthy testosterone levels.

Frankincense can calm the spirit and bring a sense of harmony to the world for women. It can also enhance the effects of any oil used with it. Women can use these oils aromatically and topically but must be careful putting undiluted oils on their skin, especially oregano. Adding a few drops to a carrier oil, such as apricot, almond or fractionated coconut, before applying helps to dilute the oils. Try applying the oils to the bottom of the feet, the outside of the ankles between the ankle bone and Achilles tendon, as these locations are tied to the female organs.
