Herban Mother Cannabidiol Products Offer Natural Alternative for Wellness

by Sheila Julson

By looking at Hector and Mary Najar, one would never guess that not long ago both were obese and had suffered from serious health issues. Because of Hector’s former work in telecommunications as a project manager, the couple traveled frequently and often ate take-out and processed foods.

Today, Hector and Mary are healthy and vibrant, thanks to drastic dietary changes that included ridding their diets of fast food, lactose and gluten, and switching to fresh produce and herbs. They studied horticulture, planted a garden, and formed a culinary herbs and produce business, Herban Gardens LLC. That eventually led to their current venture, Herban Mother cannabidiol (CBD) oil products, featuring tinctures, balms, salves, pet care and more. In August, Herban Mother opened a retail location in the Paseo Arts District.

hector-mary-najarWhile selling herbs and produce, Mary, who is an esthetician, began extracting oils from herbs in their garden for use in natural skin care products. Hector and Mary also became knowledgeable about the health benefits of medical marijuana, which piqued the interest of customers that already loved their skin care line.

“We assured our customers that when medical marijuana did become legal here in Oklahoma, we would infuse it into our natural skin care product line,” Hector says. “That hasn’t come to fruition yet, so the next best thing to do was to partner with a lab, Can-Tek Labs LLC, here in Oklahoma City, to manufacture our CBD product line.”

Despite mounting research showing how CBD—the non-hallucinogenic compounds of the cannabis plant—can heal, there’s still stigma surrounding the plant. Hector is quick to clear up any misconceptions: “Our products are 100 percent THC-free, which means you will not test positive on a urinalysis or lose your job; you will not get high; or you will not feel funny in any way, shape or form.”

Through Herban Mother’s brick-and-mortar location, Hector and Mary are passionate to educate people about the medicinal properties of CBD products. Hector notes that all mammals have an endocannabinoid system; a group of endogenous cannabinoid receptors located in the brain and throughout the nervous system that makes people and animals receptive to this natural medicine. Herban Mother has products for people and pets.

Customer favorites include balms and oil tinctures. PT Essentials, one of Mary’s own formulas, is an oil-based topical application made up of essential oils, such as lavender, tea tree and rosemary—all helpful for eczema and psoriasis. “She took that formula and introduced full-spectrum hemp oil and crystal isolates to make an anti-wrinkle topical that’s also great for pain management, and it has anti-inflammatory properties,” Hector explains.

Can-Tek Labs also formulates some of Herban Mother’s product line. In addition to organically grown CBD oil, the products contain eucalyptus, lemon grass and other essential oils known for anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-cancerous and antiseptic properties.

The balms are applied topically and can help ease muscle and back aches and rheumatoid arthritis. Herban Mother’s oil tinctures can be used for all over body pain, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia or degenerative bone disease. The tinctures are administered sublingually twice daily.

Hector says that many people he sees are age 50 or older, often very ill, and they tell him that CBD oil is their last resort. “Don’t wait until the last minute,” Hector implores. “If the pharmaceuticals aren’t working, we’re here for you. CBD is a natural alternative, and I’m proud to represent the plant and to bring this product to Oklahoma City to possibly make a difference in people’s lives.”

Herban Mother’s products are available at the store or online. They ship anywhere throughout the United States and worldwide. Herban Mother is veteran-owned and operated; Hector served in the U.S. Air Force from 1989 to 1999, in combat communications during Desert Shield, Desert Storm and Operation Deny Flight-Provide Promise, an operation through the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

Herban Mother is located at 607 NW 23rd St., Ste. A, in Oklahoma City. For more information, call 405-509-3183, email or visit
