Mindfulness Coach and Writer Pat Webb is offering a Journaling to Support Mindfulness PLAYshop on November 4 at Radiant Living, in Oklahoma City. Participants will learn about the benefits of putting pen to paper and journaling for healing, understanding and more.
“In our current technological age, putting pen to paper may seem old fashioned, but current research says that journaling is a powerful tool for healing,” explains Webb. University of Texas at Austin Psychologist and Researcher James Pennebaker contends that regular journaling strengthens immune cells, decreases symptoms of asthma and rheumatoid arthritis, and reduces the impact of daily stressors on physical health.
In addition, writing accesses the analytical left brain and, while it’s occupied, the right brain is free to create, intuit and feel. Writing can remove mental blocks and allow us to use all our brainpower to better understand ourselves, others and the world around us. “It’s easy to begin,” says Webb. “Simply record what you notice for seven minutes a day. Date your entries and read them back occasionally. You’ll find you have a new life companion, one who loves you as you are.”
