Cannabidiol (CBD) is a compound contained in the cannabis plant that offers relief of symptoms associated with autoimmune diseases, inflammation, attention-deficit disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism, seizures, migraines, anxiety and depression. Naturopathic Doctor Kevyn Kennedy, of Oklahoma City, is offering a free CBD evaluation to Natural Awakenings readers this month.
CBD is typically administered via a tincture by mouth. “It’s very mild flavored and administered through a dropper,” explains Kennedy. “You can also ingest it as a gummy, a paste form, or even a capsule.” A vape delivery system is also available, entering the bloodstream through the lungs for immediate relief.
Kennedy explains the difference between CBD and medical marijuana. She says, “They both come from the cannabis plant. CBD oil, however, does not have the psychoactive effects of medical marijuana.” The latter is illegal in Oklahoma, but CBD oil that does not contain any tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is legal.
Clients that use this effective form of therapy do not have to worry about testing positive in a urinalysis drug test. Kennedy adds, “The drug test looks for narcotics, which are not present in CBD oil with zero THC.”
