The Retreat MindBody Wellness is bringing Resistance Flexibility and Strength Training (RFST) to Edmond on February 8 and 9. Tuition for the training also covers a 16-week follow-up study group held at The Retreat’s studio space.
Kathryn Springman, founder of the center, traveled to Santa Barbara, California, for training with Bob Cooley at The Genius of Flexibility. She quickly realized that active resistance self- and assisted-stretching had to be integrated into the center’s mind-body wellness practice. Around that time, a space opened and remodeling began for the new facility with a focus on creating a classroom/studio space that would allow multiple trainers to work with their clients simultaneously in similar style to The Genius of Flexibility.
“Lonny Jarrett, acupuncturist and author, said that our goal as practitioners is to nourish the destiny of our clients. I think combining stretching with energy medicine, counseling and manual therapies really does exactly that,” explains Springman. “After five months of planning and construction, we moved into the new place last December and couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. So far everyone who has seen it is simply amazed with the new space.”
