Packing for vacation can be a daunting task, but it is best to be prepared, especially when it comes to our health. Certified Naturopath Robab Taghizadeh, of GreenAcres Market, in Oklahoma City, offers advice about natural products to pack to promote good health while traveling.
On long flights, she emphasizes the importance of staying hydrated. She suggests packing a vitamin C and electrolyte mix, such as Trace Minerals Power Pak or Ultima, which can be taken with a glass of water. Taghizadeh recommends taking digestive enzymes daily to cope with overeating or indulging in something unfamiliar to our bodies. She always brings a little activated charcoal to absorb and flush out any toxins or impurities associated with food poisoning, as well as probiotics to keep the gut healthy.
Many travelers struggle to get a good night’s sleep away from home. Taghizadeh recommends packing Irwin Naturals Power to Sleep PM, Magnesium Citrate or Natural Calm to help vacationers get the sleep they need. For those among us that suffer from motion sickness, she suggests ginger chews to help alleviate the symptoms of nausea. These chews also increase circulation, which is great for long road/plane trips.
