You Power Yoga, in Edmond, will host a Yoga for Arthritis Workshop from 1 to 3 p.m., April 8. Instructor Casi Summers will teach students how to modify their yoga practice to make it arthritis-friendly.
Attendees will learn to better understand the arthritic body and how yoga can help mitigate arthritis-related issues, how to create a safe and beneficial yoga practice, as well as tools and techniques for maintaining a body in motion.
Summers, who has dealt with arthritis since childhood, finds yoga to be her best approach to living a full, active life. “Yoga really keeps me mobile,” she says, “especially with Oklahoma’s ever-changing weather patterns. It has significantly reduced my joint pain. Yoga also helps me manage pain when I do have it. I’m not as susceptible to diving into my pity party.”
